Box Score Apparently, 10 days of rest did wonders for the Hamline lacrosse team. The Pipers, playing their first game since April 8, roared out of the gate with four goals in the first seven minutes of play and kept it up all night in a 17-11 defeat of Augsburg in Minneapolis Tuesday night. Hamline is now 10-3 overall (tying its win total from last season) and a gaudy 7-2 in their first season as a member of the Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference.

Radian Lenz led the offense with six goals and an assist while Sydney Dynneson and Dana Almquist added four markers apiece. Dani Perry had a pair of goals and Lexus Tatge contributed a solo as part of a 29-shot attack. At the other end of the spectrum, Molly Dionne recorded 15 saves in goal.

Both teams came in motivated. HU was looking to stay within shouting distance of the two teams ahead of them in standings -- Concordia (WI) at 9-0 and Illinois Tech at 8-1. The Auggies, now 6-3 in the MWLC, are battling Aurora (6-2) for the fourth and final playoff spot.

Dynneson started the onslaught 2:23 into the game and Lenz made it 2-0 23 seconds later. By the 17 1/2 minute mark, Hamline had built an 8-1 lead and looked to have an easy night. The Auggies, however, had other ideas and the HU lead shrunk to 10-7 by halftime.

The Pipers came out of the gate fast in the second half as well, scoring four unanswered goals in the first 6:45 of play for a 14-7 lead. Lenz, whose 29 goals trails just Almquist (46) on the HU stat sheet, scored four times in the second session to help the Pipers pull away.

Hamline, which is 7-0 at Klas Field this season and 12-0 in its history, hosts Beloit (8-6, 5-3 MWLC) on Saturday, April 22 at noon. HU will play its home game of the season the next day -- a 10:30 a.m. non-conference curtain call against Southwestern (TX).
