Box Score Sometimes, the best offense is a good defense ... and vice versa.
Both elements were on display Sunday at Klas Field for the Hamline lacrosse team as they tied a school record with their fifth straight victory, a 13-3 decision over Loras. The Pipers improved their overall record to 8-2 and their Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference standard to 6-1.
Eight different players found the back of the net for HU.
Dana Almquist and
Dani Perry (22) led the way with three markers each. Almquist now has 39 for the season. She also has 98 career points in her two seasons here.
Alycia Monserrate Novotny scored twice with
Radian Lenz,
Lindsey Jackman,
Brayden Maass,
Sydney Dynneson and
Katie Pearson getting one each.
Lenz got things moving quickly, scoring 13 seconds into the game. Almquist netted a pair and Pearson also scored to give HU a 4-0 lead after 12 1/2 minutes of play. By halftime, the margin was 8-0.
The Pipers kept the Duhawks at bay for quite a while. When Loras did get close, goalie
Molly Dionne had the answers, finishing the day with 13 saves. It took the Duhawks 42+ minutes to get their first goal. By that time, Hamline had a 12-0 lead and was well on the way to recording a 12th straight win without a loss in games played at Klas Field during the two year tenure of the program.
The Pipers make a trek to Roseville on Tuesday, April 4 for a non-conference game against Northwestern. Hamline returns to MWLC play on Saturday, April 8 at Concordia (WI), Game time is 12:00 p.m.
