4/22/2017 7:44:00 PM

Box Score The New Kids On The Block are making quite a first impression. Hamline's lacrosse team erupted for nine first half goals en route to a 12-1 win over Beloit Saturday at Klas Field. HU now stands 8-2 with one Midwestern Women's Lacrosse Conference game remaining. They will finish at least in third place and will advance to either Illinois Tech or Concordia (WI) for the league playoffs May 5-6. The first place team host the next three in line in a single elimination format.

The decisive triumph also pushed Hamline's overall record to 11-3. That is one more win than  HU recorded in its first year as a varsity sport under head coach Karen Heggernes. The Pipers also stretched their perfect career record in their brief history at Klas Field to 13-0.

Dana Almquist wasted little time putting the Buccaneers on the defensive. The junior attacker took a pass from Lexus Tatge (one of three assists for her) and netted her first of five goals on the day 30 seconds into the game. She would score three more times in the half as Hamline bolted to a 9-0 intermission advantage. Lindsey Jackman, Sydney Dynneson (pictured) , Brayden MaassRadian Lenz and Alycia Monserrate Novotny also had first half markers. Tatge  connected twice and Almquist in the second session. Molly Dionne had nine saves in goal for Hamline.

Almquist now has 51 goals on the season. She is tied for second in the MWLC and is just four goals shy of her 2016 final season total of 55.

The Pipers have one date remaining at Klas. They will face Southwestern (Texas) Sunday, April 23 at 10:30 a.m. They finish the regular season on the road with a MWLC game at Monmouth April 29 and a non-conference game at Augustana (IL) on April 30.
