Box Score A balanced scoring attack, some big play from the bench and clutch late shooting combined nicely for the Hamline women's basketball team to produce a 64-57 victory over St. Catherine Saturday at Hutton Arena.
Alaina Quaranta drained a three-pointer from the corner with 53 seconds remaining to break a 57-all tie and send the Pipers on their way as their record improved to 3-12 overall, 2-6 in MIAC play. Quaranta was one of four Pipers who recorded double figures. She led the way with 16 points to go along with Kaeli Stayer (pictured) and
Reilly Geistfeld adding 13 and
Morgen Coleman contributing a dozen. Geistfeld also had 10 rebounds for a double-double and led the Pipers to a 49-42 edge in rebounds.Â
It was a game that saw seven tie scores and eight lead changes. The Wildcats led by 17-13 after a quarter only to see HU turn the tables for a 31-29 halftime edge. SCU went back ahead by 45-43 after three quarters, setting the stage for the frantic finish. HU used a 7-2 run to take a 54-51 lead with 4:17 left. St. Catherine tied it up a minute later.
