Box Score HU men's hockey coach
Cory Laylin said he was looking for freshman
Kyle Wendorf to start getting more production. He got that out of his freshman -- Wendorf scored two goals -- but Bethel had other ideas and rallied to deal the Pipers a 5-4 loss Saturday night in Blaine.
Chad Hennum (who also had two assists) and
Brandon Reinholz also scored for HU, which is now 8-11-2 overall and 3-7-2 in MIAC games.
Wendorf and Reinholz scored first period goals to give HU a 2-1 lead. Hennum set up Wendorf to give HU a 3-1 lead in the second period but the Royals scored late in the same sessions to make it 3-2. Hennum finished off a three-way play to make it 4-2 only to see the Royals score three times -- twice on the power play -- and take the win.
Evan Robert had 20 saves in goal for Hamline and took the loss.
The Pipers are off until Friday, February 9 when they face St. Mary's at TRIA Rink. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
