Evan Robert was in the middle of the action for much of Saturday night. Robert had 24 saves for the Pipers, who lost their TRIA Rink opener to Augsburg, 3-0.
HU started strong, firing the first six shots on goal in the game. In fact, it took Augsburg nearly 13 minutes to test Robert for the first time. The Oakdale, Minn. native stayed firm, batting away all seven shots sent his way in the first frame and seven of the eight he faced in the middle stanza. The Pipers had chances of their own, banging a couple of shots off goalposts but could not find the back of the net.
The Auggies, 6-2 in MIAC play (10-5 overall), upped the pressure in the third period, adding a pair of goals. Hamline (3-9-1, 1-5-1 MIAC) responded with 20 shots on goal.

The Pipers have a pair of non-conference encounters next weekend at TRIA. Wis-Stout visits on Friday, January 12 at 8:00 p.m. Wis-Superior is the guest the next night for a 7:00 p.m. faceoff.
