Justice Spriggs threw for 109 yards but Hamline's offense couldn't find the end zone in a 33-0 football loss to Bethel at Klas Field Saturday.
The Pipers received another defensive effort from the trio of
Luke Trudell,
Dalton Pakkala and
Jordon Deno, who each recorded a dozen sacks. For Trudell, it marked his fourth straight 12 tackle game, upping hig league leading total to 96.
Mitchell Maday added a sack and a pair of tackles for loss.
HU held in there early against the Royals, who are 7-1 overall. They forced one punt, stopped another drive on fourth down and blocked a field goal try on the final play of the first half. But HU couldn't get much offense going. Spriggs completed 13 of 22 passes with a long of 31 yards as HU fell to 0-8 overall, 0-6 in the MIAC.
Mitchell Maday recorded a sack, his 19th solo effort of his four year career at HU. He has also had eight assisted sacks. The overall total of 23 ties him with Cory Molenaar (1996-99) for the most in Hamline history.
The Pipers play at St. John's on November 3 and then finish the 2018 season at Klas against Augsburg on November 10. Game time is 1:00 p.m.
