Dopp, Dolan Finish In Top 8 at MIAC WCC Meet

10/27/2018 12:04:00 PM

Madeline Dopp and Helen Dolan led the way for Hamline's women's cross country, which finished in tie for fourth place at the MIAC Championships, held at St. Olaf College in Northfield, October 27. Dopp, a senior, negotiated the 6K course in 22:49 to finish in fifth place. Dolan, a sophomore, was close behind with a 23:03.7 time to place eighth. Both runners earn automatic representation on the All-Conference team.

Dopp's finish is the best by a Hamline women's cross country runner since Jessica Kociscak was fifth in the 2010 race.

Bernadette Hayden, a junior, was 20th in 23:31. Alexandra Maddux, a freshman (24:328.6) and sophomore Shylie Burleson-King (25:55.9) rounded out the Pipers scoring total of 150 points. That placed them in fifth place, a mere two points behind St. Benedict. Still, it is Hamline's best showing at the Women's CC meet since 1984 when the Pipers finished in fourth place.

The 2018 finish marked a 58 point decrease and a two place jump from the 2017 effort for HU.

The Pipers will run in the Fall Finale in Collegeville on November 2. The NCAA Regional meet is November 10 in Waverly, Iowa.
