The Piper women's soccer team jumped to a 2-0 lead early and never let up en route to a 3-0 victory at Martin Luther Wednesday.
Gaby Diaz (18) had a goal and an assist as Hamline outshot MLC, 34-5, to improve to 4-6-1 on the season. Diaz led the Piper attackers with six shots.
Jenna Sampson added five.
Kaelin O'Fallon got the ball rolling when she converted a Diaz feed just 1:53 into the game. Diaz then accepted a
Ciara Gregory pass and buried a shot to up the margin to 2-0 at 8:21.
Jensen Sevening ended the scored with a tally at 60:54.
Melanie Hopkins and
Lauren Sicora each played a half in goal and shared the shutout. Hopkins recorded three saves and Sicora, playing goal for the first time as a collegian, had one.
The Pipers (1-4 in MIAC play) get back into conference action Saturday when they welcome Augsburg (5-5, 3-2 MIAC) to Paterson Field. Game time is 1:00 p.m.
