Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

T Hall OT Winner Lifts Pipers Over Gusties

When the game is scoreless and you are in sudden death overtime, it often comes down to perfecting the fundamentals.

Such was the case Friday night at TRIA Rink when Hamline's Brady Crabtree won an offensive zone faceoff. The puck went directly to Tommy Hall, who wasted no time, blasting a shot into the net to lift the Pipers to a 1-0 win over Gustavus Adolphus.

Hamline improved to 2-1 in MIAC play and now stands 2-5 overall.

It was tense battle of goaltending and blocked shots all night. HU netminder Sam Nelson was tested in the first period as GAC held a 12-4 edge in shots on goals. (He finished with 31.) The Pipers responded with a dozen of their own in the second period and held a 9-2 edge in the third session. But neither team could manage a tally. In addition to the goaltending, there was a total of 22 blocked shots in the game, 13 by Hamline (Austin Wisely led with three.)

So it went into the extra session with Hall, the smallest non-goalie on either roster at 5-6, coming up big with his second goal of the season.

The two teams will face off again Saturday, November 17 in St. Peter. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
