For two plus periods, things were going about as well for the HU men's hockey team as hoped for.
Weiland Parrish's second period goal had lifted the Pipers to a tie game at 1 a piece with St. John's at the National Hockey Center in St. Cloud on Thursday. The Johnnies, unfortunately, broke the tie midway in the final frame and added two late tallies for a 4-1 decision in the MIAC Opener for both teams.
Evan Robert did his best to keep things afloat in the HU net with 28 saves, 10 in each in the last two periods.
Brendan Sheehan (17) led the Pipers' 20 shot attack with three.
The Johnnies were leading 1-0 in the second period when Parrish, a freshman, finished off a three way play with
Mitch Bentfield and
Mitch Hall for a power play goal -- his third of the season -- at 3:47.
HU threatened several times after that to no avail and fell to 0-5 overall on the season.
The two teams will try it again Friday, November 9 at TRIA Rink. Game time is 8:00 p.m.
