Box Score Mitch and
Tommy Hall will have quite a tale to tell at the family holiday gathering this year. Mitch, a senior defenseman, took a pass from sophomore forward brother Tommy and stuffed the puck into the net early in the third period to lift Hamline's men's hockey team to a 3-3 overtime tie with Milwaukee School of Engineering at TRIA Rink Friday.
Brandon Zajicek and
Weiland Parrish also scored for the Pipers, who finish the 2018 portion of their schedule with a 2-9-1 overall record.
It was a free flowing game from the start. Hamline finished with a 43-38 edge in shots on goal. HU goalie
Sam Nelson finished with 35 saves, several of them from close range.
MSOE scored first four minutes into the game but Zajicek countered with a shorthanded goal on a nice feed from
Mitch Hall. The Raiders struck back before the end of the period and a marker in the middle frame for a 3-1 lead entering the third period.
Hamline cut the lead in half on
Weiland Parrish's power play effort at 1:45. A short time later,
Tommy Hall shot up the left side and spotted his older brother parked at the right side of the net. The feed was perfect and the Pipers were tied at 3.
Things got a bit dicey when Hamline was forced to kill off three straight penalties in the period. In the five minute extra session, HU carried the play with a 4-1 edge in shots on goal but there was no more scoring.
HU returns to action Friday, January 4, 2019 against MIAC foe Augsburg at TRIA Rink. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
