Madison Hurrle (pictured) and
Erin Tadych have quickly adapted to the rigors of MIAC volleyball. The newcomers had excellent nights for the Pipers in their 3-0 loss at nationally ranked Gustavus Adolphus Wednesday. Hurrle led the HU offensive thrust with nine kills while Tadych helped on the back wall with a team high 10 digs.
Megan Rubbelke was the set up person with 19 assists, adding seven digs.
After dropping the first two sets by 25-15 and 25-14 scores, HU stiffened and took the Gusties to the wire before falling by a 25-23 count. The Pipers led most of the tight third set. Gustavus, however, rallied from a 19-16 deficit for a 9-4 run to end the match.
Hamline is 5-2 overall. They play three matches this weekend in a tournament at UW-River Falls. First up: a Friday, September 14 encounter with Simpson, a team they defeated 3-2 in the season opener August 31. The match begins at 3:00 p.m.
