The HU volleyball team came close but couldn't quite overcome UW-Stout, dropping a 3-0 decision to the Blue Devils Tuesday in Menominee, Wis. The scores were 25-19, 25-22, 25-23.
Sydney Larson (11) registered a team high nine kills and
Madison Hurrle added eight for Hamline, now 6-7 overall.
Megan Rubbelke served up 25 assists wile
Karly Bihner had a career high nine digs to lead the back wall. Larson was next in line with eight.
The first two sets followed a pattern. The Blue Devils grabbed early leads with the Pipers not backing down, consistently keeping things close throughout. In the second set, HU cut a things to 23-22 before giving way. In the third set, Hamline roared from an early deficit to claim a 12-8 lead. Stout rallied for a 20-17 lead. HU snapped back with four straight points for a 21-20 edge. The set was tied twice more (at 22 and 23) but the Blue Devils broke through with the final two points to claim the decision.
