The HU volleyball team snatched one set and hung in there in two others in a 3-1 loss to Augsburg Saturday at Hutton Arena. Hamline, the youngest team in the conference, dropped a competitive 25-16 first set but roared back for a 25-22 triumph in the second set. A late surge lifted Augsburg (16-2 overall, 4-1 MIAC) to a 25-17 third set win. The visitors grabbed the final set as well, 25-10.
Morgen Coleman led the offensive charge with 10 kills. The junior added four service aces and nine digs as well.
Madison Hurrle added seven kills and
Erin Leverington contributed six.
Megan Rubbelke served up 29 assists and added 12 digs for a double-double. The sophomore is seventh in the league at 8.20 assists per set.
Erin Tadych led the back wall brigade with 13 digs.
Karly Bihner (7) delivered 10 digs, her second double digit effort of the season.
Hamline is 6-9 overall, 0-5 in the MIAC. The Pipers continue a two week long homestand with a match against Concordia on Thursday, October 4. Game time at Hutton Arena is 7:00 p.m.
