Isaac Brooks picked up in 2019 where he left off in 2018.
Ethan Scheuring fared fairly well, too.
The senior pair each poured in 21 points as the Piper men's basketball team improved to 7-4 overall and 4-2 in MIAC games with a 79-57 victory at St. Mary's Wednesday night. Brooks added 11 rebounds for a second straight double-double effort for HU, which has now won three games in a row.
Connor Knutson contributed 14 for the Pipers, who shot a season high .566 from the field (30-53).
After trailing 17-15 seven minutes into the game, HU went on a 31-12 blitz for a 46-29 halftime edge. SMU worked the margin to 11 before HU took off and refused to be caught.
The Pipers held a whopping 44-26 edge in rebounds, which played a big role in Hamline's 38-20 advantage for points in the paint. Head coach
Jim Hayes was able to go to his bench and nine players played 10 minutes or more.
The win vaulted Hamline into fourth place alone in the MIAC. They continue on the road Saturday, January 5 with a trip to St. Thomas for a 3:00 p.m. tipoff. HU heads north to Moorhead for a rematch with Concordia on January 9 before returning to Hutton Arena to face Carleton January 12.
