Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Rouse Scores First For M Soccer

On a day when Hamline honored iys men's senior soccer players, head coach Alex Morawiecki got a glimpse of the future. Sophomore Alex Rouse used his 6-3 FRAME to his advantage to head in a shot from close range for the lone HU goal in a 4-1 loss to St. Mary's Saturday at Paterson Field. Piper goalie Malachy Zamacona, one of the six seniors honored in a pregame ceremony, was busy all day, recording 10 saves, seven in the second half alone. One of the SMU goals was on a penalty kick and another was the rebound of a PK.

The Cardinals struck first in the 19th minute. Rouse then evened matters with his header from close range at 28:20.  The SMU PK goal came in the 43rd minute.

The score stayed at 2-1 with HU getting some second half chances. SMU scored twice in the last 3:07 of play to take the verdict. HU is now 3-10-1 overall, 1-7-0 in MIAC play.

In addition to Zamacona, HU honored Jack Reddan, Adam King, Ryan Pyle, Ben Sorenson, Stefan Kinsinger and their families (see picture). The sextet will play once more at Paterson on Tuesday, October 29 against Gustavus Adolphus. Game time is 3:30 p.m.
