Malachy Zamacona, one of the six seniors honored in a pregame ceremony, was busy all day, recording 10 saves, seven in the second half alone. One of the SMU goals was on a penalty kick and another was the rebound of a PK.
The Cardinals struck first in the 19th minute. Rouse then evened matters with his header from close range at 28:20. The SMU PK goal came in the 43rd minute.
The score stayed at 2-1 with HU getting some second half chances. SMU scored twice in the last 3:07 of play to take the verdict. HU is now 3-10-1 overall, 1-7-0 in MIAC play.
