Two Pipers Hit Landmark Achievements Against UST

Megan Rubbelke and Morgen Coleman continues their climb up the ladder min the Hamline volleyball record book Saturday during a 3-1 loss to St. Thomas at Hutton Arena. 

Rubbelke, a junior, became just the fifth player in school history to record 2,000 career assists with 36 for Hamline, which is now 12-13 overall, 2-7 in MIAC play. Her seasonal total of 899 ranks sixth all-time with two matches remaining. Her 9.56 assists per set is fifth in the league. 

Coleman, who already holds the school record with 166 career aces, had 13 digs to pass the 1,000 mark for her career. The team's main setter as a freshman, she has 1,066 of helpers in her four years here for a rare double-double. Earlier, she crossed the 1,000 threshbold for assists and currently has 1,005. 

Sydney Larson topped the offense against the first place Tommies with 14 kills with Madison Hurrle close behind with 13. Rubbelke was tops in the back line with 16 digs for her 17th double-double and eighth in her last nine matches. Gabby Robinson added 15  Maggie Gavic had nine to go over the 400 mark for the season. 

After dropping a 25-14 first set, HU chased the Tommies to the wire before losing the second set, 25-23. The Pipers grabbed the third set by 25-22 but fell in the fourth, 25-18. It was just the fifth set UST has lost this year to a MIAC foe.

Hamline stays home for the last week of the season. The Pipers host St. Olaf on Wednesday, October 30 at Hutton at 7:00 p.m. Macalester is the visitor for the season finale on Saturday, November 2 at 3:00 p.m.
