Thomas Has 200 Yard+ Day For FB at St. Olaf

Triston Thomas was a force to behold Saturday for the Piper football team at St. Olaf. The sophomore wide receiver caught 13 passes for 134 yards and ran back four kickoffs for 81 yards in Hamline's 29-2 loss to the undefeated Oles in Northfield Saturday.

QB Connor Leavens threw for 255 yards for Hu, which hit the midway point of the schedule with a 1-4 overall mark, 0-3 in the MIAC. In addition to working with Thomas, Tanner Lunceford snagged seven throws for 84 yards, including a season best 37 yard strike.

The Pipers fell into an early hole thanks to a pair of big plays. The Oles, now 5-0, connected on a 57 yard scoring play on their first drive. When the first Piper drive was stalled, the  Oles blocked Leavens' punt attempt and the play eventually ended in a safety for a 9-0 lead. An interception return early in the second quarter made it 16-0. STO increased the lead to 23-0 at intermission.

HU advanced into St. Olaf several times, getting as close at the 3 yard line at one point. The Pipers got on the scoreboard in fourth quarter by forcing a safety. Hamline finished with 295 yards of total offense. Manny Moton had a 14 yard gallop and led the rushers with 29 yards.

Monty Stenroos led the defense with 11 tackles. Carson Reinard recovered a pair of fumbles. Ethan McCown and Adrian Cracolici came up with interceptions.

The Pipers are back at Klas Field for Homecoming against Carleton (2-3, 0-3 MIAC) on Saturday, October 12. Game time is 1:00 p.m.
