In their last prep for the MIAC Outdoor Track/Field Meet,
Eric Dols and
Jay Hendrycks showed there is such a thing as home field advantage.
The pair recorded victories in the cages behind Klas Field to highlight the men's track/field effort at the annual Meet of the UnSaintly Saturday.
Dols won the Hammer with a 190-3 throw and Hendrycks did likewise in the Javelin with a 163-02 effort.
The Pipers earned four second place finishes in the field that included D-I and II athletes --
Dylan Olson in the 110 Hurdles (15.71 seconds),
Ben Sorenson in the 400 (50.28, just ahead of
Alberto Mendez, who ran 50.58),
Christian Velishek in the High Jump (6-05) and
Thomas Amberg in the Triple Jump (39-5).
There were several other top five finishes. In the hammer,
Dylan Olson was third (173-11) and
Mitchell Maday took fourth (168-5). Maday was also fourth in the Discus (149-3).
Zach Angstman ran fourth in the 110 Hurdles (16.32).
Matt Lorah legged out a fifth place finish in the 800 (1:58.79) and
Luke Hulshizer claimed the same position in the Pole Vault (12-6).
The meet was unscored.
