Madison Hurrle looked in midseason form. The junior erupted for 16 kills and four teammates recorded double digit digs as Hamline rallied for a 3-2 win over Willamette Friday night in Forest Grove, Ore..
Gabby Robinson added 10 as HU rallied from a 2-1 deficit for a 25-20 fourth game win and a 15-8 decision in the deciding set.
Maggie Gavic, who had 17 digs in a 3-0 loss to Lewis & Clark earlier in the day, contributed 26 in the win.
Sydney Larson and
Megan Rubbelke recorded 16 with
Morgen Coleman adding 14.
Rubbelke, who began the season with 1000 career assists, had 65 for the day, 43 in the win over Willamette. The Pipers dropped a 25-23 decision to the Bearcats in the first set but stormed back for a 25-20 win in the go-around. After a 25-15 loss, HU won the final two sets to earn a split for the day. In the fifth set, the Pipers used a 6-2 run to snap a 4-all and take command for the win.
Earlier in the day, HU hung with L & C in the first set, falling 25-20. The next two didn't go as well with the Pipers dropping 25-14 and 25-18 decisions. Hurrle had eight kills and Robinson seven.
The Pipers move to Newberg, Ore. tomorrow to take on Linfield (1-1) and the host school, George Fox (2-0).
