ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Hamline men's hockey team (3-11-4, 1-5-3 MIAC) fell to Concordia (6-8-2, 3-3-1 MIAC) in the series opener by a score of 5-3 at TRIA Rink. The Pipers will not have to wait long for a rematch, taking on the Cobbers tomorrow, January 25, at 2:00 p.m., once again at TRIA.

Sophomore
Weiland Parrish scored twice for the Pipers and now has six goals and 14 total points on the season, which ranks second on the team. First year
Tyler Nyman was also active on offense, assisting two of the team's three goals.

The Cobbers scored first in the game, getting two quick goals to start the first period. At 3:24 they took advantage of a power play to take a 1-0 lead and then they added another goal about three minutes later.

Parrish scored his first of the game at 12:55 in the first period, as the Pipers used a power play of their own to cut the deficit to one. Nyman and sophomore
Jeron Hirschfeld assisted Parrish on the play.

In the second, Concordia put two more in the net, scoring at 3:24 and at 15:19 to make it 4-1. HU responded, as Parrish took a pass from sophomore
Bailey Martin and scored his second goal of the night at 16:40 to make it 4-2 heading into the third period.

Hamline would make it a one-goal game early in the third, with first year
Erik Dahl scoring on a power play, being set up by Nyman. The Pipers were now within striking distance with 15 minutes still left to play, however, they were unable to score again.

The Cobbers sealed the win with an empty net goal at 19:34, making the final 5-3.

Senior
Sam Nelson made 22 saves in net for the Pipers, but would take the loss, moving to 2-6-4 on the year.
