ST. PAUL, Minn. - Every month the NCAA Division III office puts out a poll to highlight events that partner with Special Olympics and this month Hamline's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee's (SAAC) Unified Basketball event with Special Olympics Minnesota has been selected for the February poll.
Â
The Pipers in union with Augsburg's SAAC started a unified rivalry tradition, where they would team up with Special Olympics athletes for different contests throughout the year for the coveted Unified Hammer trophy.
Â
This year's basketball game was especially intense, with the teams combining to score over 130 points. The Pipers' unified team came out on top, though, allowing them to keep the Unified Hammer trophy until the next unified game between the schools.
Â
The NCAA DIII poll will award the winning school $500 to put towards their next Special Olympics events, so help Hamline's SAAC take home the prize by voting
