NEW ORLEANS, Fla. - The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) recently announced the 2020 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field All-America Teams, with seven different Pipers earning the honor.

During a normal year, student-athletes who score any portion of a team point (top-eight in the final of an individual event or as a member of the top-eight placing relay event) would earn All-American honors. This season, with the cancellation of the national championship due to COVID-19 pandemic, the Executive Committee changed the criteria to award All-America status to selected participants initially announced by the NCAA on Sunday, March 8.

On the men's side, senior
Fernando Benitez and
Frank Gustafson qualified in the mile and junior
Joe Martin qualified in the shot put. For the women, senior
Briana Berninghaus qualified in the 200m, sophomore
Alexandra Maddux qualified in the 800m, junior
Helen Dolan qualified in the mile, and sophomore
Alexandra Kolstad qualified in the shot put.

Gustafson entered the national championships with the 16
th best mile time in the country at 4:14.18 and Benitez was close behind, ranking 25
th with a time of 4:14.79. In the shot put, Martin boasted the sixth-best distance in the country at 17.32 meters.

Berninghaus ranked 15
th in the 200m (25.42) and Maddux ranked 10
th in the 800m (2:14.78). In the mile, Dolan was ranked 18
th with a time of 5:01.05 and in the shot put, Kolstad ranked eighth with a distance of 13.94 meters.
