The Pipers found themselves in a 2-0 hole after they dropped the opening two sets 12-25 and 25-27. Fast starts propelled Hamline in the final three sets. Three Rachel Rettmann kills, and a trio of service aces engineered a Hamline 12-2 run to open the third frame. It was too much for Augsburg to overcome as Hamline notched a 25-14 set three victory.
The Auggies struggled to find the floor in set four, as they notched six attack errors in Hamline's 10-4 run to open the frame. This fueled Kayla Gjerde, whose four kills highlighted Augsburg's 10-3 run that gave them a 14-13 lead. The Auggies would only score three more points in the set as Hamline cruised to a 25-17 win.
Set-five also resulted in a fast start as Hamline jumped to an 8-1 lead, which was enough cushion to secure them a 15-7 win and 3-2 match victory.
