Hamline 3, Augsburg 2 (12-25, 25-27, 25-14, 25-17, 15-7)

The Pipers found themselves in a 2-0 hole after they dropped the opening two sets 12-25 and 25-27. Fast starts propelled Hamline in the final three sets. Three Rachel Rettmann kills, and a trio of service aces engineered a Hamline 12-2 run to open the third frame. It was too much for Augsburg to overcome as Hamline notched a 25-14 set three victory.

The Auggies struggled to find the floor in set four, as they notched six attack errors in Hamline's 10-4 run to open the frame. This fueled Kayla Gjerde, whose four kills highlighted Augsburg's 10-3 run that gave them a 14-13 lead. The Auggies would only score three more points in the set as Hamline cruised to a 25-17 win.

Set-five also resulted in a fast start as Hamline jumped to an 8-1 lead, which was enough cushion to secure them a 15-7 win and 3-2 match victory.

Rachel Rettmann led all players with 18 kills, five blocks and a .425 hitting percentage. Sydney Larson rounded out the Hamline players with double-digit kills with 13. Megan Rubbelke's 41 assists highlighted an offense that hit .153 in the match. Jenna Rubbelke tallied a team-best 26 digs. Julianna Boyum was also dominate at the net along with Rettmann as she also tallied five blocks.

The Pipers will host St. Olaf tomorrow, Saturday, October 2 at Hutton Arena for a 7:00 p.m. game time.
