Knights Clip Pipers in Final Minutes

SAINT PAUL, MINN.—Carleton University invaded Pat Paterson Field for a Wednesday-afternoon bout against the Hamline University men's soccer team. The Pipers held a 2-1 advantage at halftime before the Knights tallied a pair of second-half goals, which included Tarek Bos-Shadi's game-winner in the 88th minute that propelled Carleton to a 3-2 victory.

The Pipers fall to 2-9-2, 0-4-2 MIAC while Carleton improves to 6-3-2, 4-2-0 MIAC.

The Pipers set the tone on their first shot of the game courtesy of Jake Sullivan, who found Nate Vogel in the 19th minute to make the score 1-0. However, the Knights answered 26 seconds later when Marco da Cunha executed a header off a feed from Justin Crawmer, which knotted the game at 1-1. Hamline took a 2-1 halftime lead off Logan Weller's third goal of the season in the 40th minute.

The bounces didn't go in Hamline's favor throughout the second half as da Cunha's second goal of the game in the 78th minute, and Bos-Shadi's tally in the 88th minute gave Carleton a come-from-behind 3-2 victory.

Pipers goalkeeper Luke Rimington made six saves in a complete-game effort, while Alexei Thomas didn't record a save over 90:00 for Carleton. The Knights held a 21-4 advantage in shots.

Hamline will hit the road to Collegeville, Minnesota to face Saint John's on Sunday, October 17 at 1:00 p.m.
