ST. PAUL, MINN.—The Hamline University men's and women's swimming & diving teams opened their 2021-22 season at the St. Catherine Pentathlon on Saturday. The women took third place out of four teams with 1,094 points, while the men registered second place out of two teams with 330 points.
Quinn Doan highlighted the men in the 100 yard butterfly with a first-place time of 55.17, followed by George Hubbard's fourth-place mark of 55.88. Doan crossed the finish line at 1:04.35 in the 100 yard breaststroke, while Hubbard took third with a 1:05.11.
Hubbard registered fourth place in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 57.44, and also tallied a first-place mark of 56.82 in the 100 yard IM, and a third-place time of 49.97 in the 100 yard freestyle.
Sarah Wood highlighted the women with a seventh-place time of 1:13.55 in the 100 yard breaststroke, followed by Sila Yurttas's 15th-place time of 1:17.13. Wood led the Pipers in the 100 yard butterfly with a 29th-place time of 1:10.13. Sila Yurttas was lethal in the 100 yard IM with a 19th-place time of 1:07.81 for the Pipers.
