Pipers Can't Hold Off Cardinals in 1-1 Tie

SAINT PAUL, MINN.—Logan Weller's goal in the opening minute wasn't enough to secure a victory for Hamline as they battled St. Mary's (Minn.) to a 1-1 (2OT) draw at Pat Paterson Field on Saturday afternoon.

The tie sends Hamline's record to 2-10-3, 0-5-3 MIAC, while St. Mary's exits Saturday with a 3-11-1, 0-8-1 MIAC mark.

Weller's fourth goal of the season 0:39 into the contest gave the Pipers a 1-0 cushion all the way until the 69th minute, when the Cardinals' Aidan Adamek finished with a goal off a feed from RJ Vasquez that evened the score at 1-1. The Pipers outshot St. Mary's 4-3 in the first overtime period before both teams failed to fire a shot in the second overtime.

The Cardinals outshot Hamline 18-15. Seven yellow cards were assessed in the contest, as Hamline was the victim of four of them.

Luke Rimington made seven saves over 110:00 of work in net for Hamline, while Daniel Sessler stopped four shots in a complete-game effort for St. Mary's.

The Pipers' final home contest of 2021 will pit them against Gustavus Adolphus College on Tuesday, October 26 at 3:30 p.m.
