WAVERLY, IOWA—The Hamline University men's soccer team embarked on a non-conference bout at Wartburg College on Tuesday night. Jack Palen was a thorn in Hamline's side as his hat trick powered Wartburg to a 3-0 victory.
The Pipers fall to 2-8-1, 0-3-1 MIAC while Wartburg improves to 3-4-2, 1-1-0 ARC.

Palen's first goal was off a penalty kick in the 27th minute that made the score 1-0 before he widened the margin to 3-0 after he found the back of the net in the 59th minute, and the 80th minute. Wartburg held a 13-3 shots advantage as Robert Cooper, Jared Garcia and Jude Le each tallied a shot for Hamline.
Luke Rimington made three saves in the complete-game loss for the Pipers, while Patrick McMahon made two saves over 90:00 for Wartburg.
The Pipers will face St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota on Saturday, October 9 at 12:30 p.m.
