Wildcats Too Much For Pipers

SAINT PAUL, MINN.—The Hamline University women's soccer team closed a two-game home stand with a Wednesday-afternoon bout against St. Catherine University at Pat Paterson Field. The Wildcats pushed their win streak to three games with a 4-1 decision over the Pipers.

Hamline falls to 5-5, 1-4 MIAC while St. Catherine improves to 7-1-2, 4-1 MIAC.

The Wildcats stormed to a 3-0 lead courtesy of goals from Mallory Johnson in the 10th minute, Amanda Elton in the 27th minute, and Emma Watt in the 34th minute. The Pipers converted on their fourth shot of the game in the 36th minute when Anna Browne notched her team-leading fifth goal of the season off an assist from Cailey Schmitt to narrow the score to 3-1.

St. Catherine struck again five minutes into the second half when Lauren Witte found the back of the net to widen things to 4-1.

The Wildcats outshot Hamline 21-6. Lauren Sicora made four saves over 73:20 of action in net before Emma Mohs came in relief for the final 16:40 for Hamline. Kate Praetz tallied a pair of saves in 68:58 of action before Molly Rudolph notched one save in 21:02 of work for St. Kate's.

The Pipers will face St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota on Saturday, October 9 at 3:30 p.m.
