SAINT PAUL, MINN.—The Hamline University men's hockey team hosted No. 5 Augsburg University in a Friday-night affair at TRIA Rink. The Auggies, fresh off a 4-2 loss at Concordia (Minn.) on December 4, were too much for Hamline as Austin Martinsen and Austin Dollimer each registered a three-point night to secured them a 5-1 victory.
The Pipers fall to 2-7, 0-3 MIAC, while Augsburg improves to 8-1, 4-1 MIAC.

The opening stages belonged to Hamline, who outshot Augsburg 5-3 before they found themselves on the penalty kill at 9:47 of the first. Momentum shifted in the Auggies' direction from that point forward as they capitalized on the power play at 10:40 of the first period courtesy of Austin Koss to make the score 1-0.
The Pipers wouldn't convert another shot until the second period, when Austin Martinsen notched back-to-back goals at the 9:31 and 12:32 marks of the frame to extend Augsburg's lead to 3-0. Joe Collins' first goal of the season at 18:46 of the second period off an assist from Brendan Sheehan and Carson Simon cut the score to 3-1, before Gavin Holland and Dollimer each tallied third-period goals for Augsburg to make things 5-1.
Each side committed five penalties. Kevin Lake made 37 saves in a complete-game loss in net for Hamline. Samuel Vyletelka stopped 24 shots for an Augsburg team that outshot the Pipers 42-25.
Hamline will travel to Augsburg tomorrow, Saturday, December 11 at 7:00 p.m.
