SAINT PAUL, MINN.—The Hamline University men's hockey team's first MIAC contest of the season pitted them against first-year conference foe St. Scholastica at TRIA Rink on Friday. The Pipers had the upper hand in shots at 33-26, but couldn't find the back of the net in a 4-0 loss to the Saints.
The Pipers fall to 2-5, 0-1 MIAC, while St. Scholastica improves to 5-4, 2-3 MIAC.
St. Scholastica 4, Hamline 0
Nathan Adrian kicked-off his two-goal game with his first tally at 2:57 of the first period that gave St. Scholastica a 1-0 lead, before he made things 2-0 at 15:45 of the opening frame. Braeden Holcomb gave the Saints a 3-0 lead with a goal at 1:28 of the second period, before Brodie Girod's tally at 14:06 of the third made things 4-0.
Jackson Bond engineered Hamline with a team-high six shots, but it was St. Scholastica goalie Jack Bostedt who registered a complete-game shutout win with 33 saves. Goalie Kevin Lake tallied 22 saves for Hamline, who killed all three St. Scholastica power plays in the contest. This includes Carson Simon's five-minute major for hitting from behind at the tail end of the game. Danylo Sukhonos and Bryce Johnson each tallied three assists for the Saints.
The Pipers will travel to St. Scholastica tomorrow, Saturday, December 4 for a 7:00 p.m. start.
