CHICAGO, Ill. - The Hamline University lacrosse team (8-4) is all set to make their fourth NCAA Tournament appearance this weekend when they face the University of Chicago on Saturday, May 8 at 4:00 p.m. (CT). This will be part of the second round of the NCAA Tournament that features 37 teams.

HAMLINE HISTORY IN THE NCAA TOURNAMENT
The Pipers played in their first NCAA Tournament in 2017, the first year that they were eligible as a program. In 2019, Hamline recorded its first win in the NCAA Tournament with an 11-9 win over Rhodes College. HU was down 7-3 after the first half of that game, but held an 8-2 scoring advantage in the second half to complete the comeback with the 11-9 victory.

ABOUT THE MAROONS
The University of Chicago is making their first trip to the NCAA Tournament this weekend, which comes in their third season of being a varsity sport. The Maroons are 9-1 on the season and 7-0 when playing at home. Their sole loss of the year came against Illinois Wesleyan.
The team has a variety of scoring threats, with six players with 20 points or more on the season. Junior midfielder Ali Sheehy is UChicago's top scorer with 28 points and eight assists. First year Lulu Hardy is close behind with 27 goals and sophomore Katie Large has 21. The Maroons are led on the draw control by sophomore Charlotte Rapp who has 42 on the year.
Both Kat Berritto and Emily Feigen have played considerable minutes in goal, but Feigen has started in eight of the possible 10 games. Feigen has an 8-1 record while making 36 saves on the year with a .493 save percentage.
As a team, they have allowed an average of 5.30 goals per game, while scoring 17.60 goals of their own.

PREVIOUS MATCHUP WITH UCHICAGO
Hamline has only faced the University of Chicago once in team history, falling to the Maroons 18-3 earlier this season. It was the second game of the season for HU and the first for UChicago. The Pipers trailed 10-1 at halftime and were unable to get out of that early hole, as the Maroons scored eight more times in the second half to claim the win.

Maria Lewis had two of Hamline's three goals in the game, being assisted by
Maya Hernandez and
Ashley Hessler. Hessler had the final goal of the game, scoring when HU was down a player with just seconds to go in the contest.
