ST. PAUL, Minn. - Hamline University women's hockey junior Molly Garin was recently named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team, highlighting both her high scholastic achievement and her career athletic accomplishments.

Garin is Hamline's first all-district recipient in the at-large category since 2018 when Taylor Martinek (swimming and diving) earned the honor. In order to qualify, the student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher and be at least a sophomore in athletic eligibility. The all-district teams are voted on by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) members.

The at-large category contains a variety of different sports, including ice hockey, swimming and diving, tennis, golf, rifle, beach volleyball, gymnastics, and rowing.

In addition to performing well in the classroom, Garin has been a force on the hockey team during the past three seasons. After tallying 38 points (19 goals, 19 assists) during her rookie season, Garin was named the USCHO Rookie of the Year, and helped the team reach the National Championship game.

During 2019-20, Garin followed up her impressive rookie season with a 39-point year, tying for the most points in the MIAC. She was named to the CCM/AHCA West All-America Team for her efforts. In 2021, Garin paced the offense in the shortened season, recording seven points with two goals and five assists. She is a two-time All-MIAC selection and was also named to the MIAC All-Rookie Team after her first season. With at least a year still to play, Garin ranks third on Hamline's all-time scoring list with 84 points.

Garin will now move on to the national ballot and contend for a spot on the Academic All-America Team, which will be announced in early August.
