ST. BONIFACIUS, MINN.—The Hamline University women's volleyball team squared-off against Crown College in a Friday-night, non-conference bout in St. Bonifacius, Minnesota. The Pipers led from start-to-finish in a 3-0 (25-13, 25-16, 25-7) drubbing of the Storm.
The Pipers improve to 9-4 while Crown falls to 1-5.
Hamline 3, Crown 0 (25-13, 25-16, 25-7)
The Pipers hit the ball on the screws as they accumulated a .381 mark against Crown's .110 figure. Despite the solid hitting, the most impressive stat of the night was Jenna Rubbelke's five service aces. Sydney Larson and Maggie Gavic each added a pair of aces, which gave Hamline a team total of nine. Jenna Rubbelke also contributed a team-best 10 digs.
Sydney Larson paced the Pipers with a stellar .650 hitting percentage that included 14 kills. Rachel Rettmann wasn't far behind with 11 kills on a .579 hitting mark, followed by Julianna Boyum's nine kills and .467 hitting percentage. Megan Rubbelke totaled 25 assists for Hamline.
The Pipers will continue MIAC play tomorrow, Saturday, September 25 against Gustavus Adolphus at Hutton Arena. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
