The Gusties stormed to a 23-17 lead in set one before Jenna Rubbelke's stellar serving engineered a Pipers 6-0 run that tied things at 23-23. Both teams traded points to make the score 24-24 before a pair of Sarah Elliot kills iced Gustavus Adolphus a 26-24 set one victory.

The Gusties led just twice in set two by scores of 1-0, and 10-9. Rachel Rettmann tallied four kills in the frame, which propelled Hamline to a 25-18 set-two victory. The third set saw Gustavus lead from start-to-finish in a 25-13 decision, which gave them a 2-1 match lead.

The tables turned in Hamline's favor in sets four and five, as they never trailed Gustavus. That didn't mean things didn't go down to the wire as the score read 14-14 in set five, where Julianna Boyum came through in the clutch with back-to-back kills to ice a 16-14 set victory and 3-2 match win.

Rettmann and Boyum each notched 15 kills for the Pipers, while Sydney Larson added 12 along with 17 digs. Jenna Rubbelke posted a team-best 19 digs, along with three service aces. Megan Rubbelke registered 47 assists, and set up an offense that hit .222 in the match.

The Pipers will host UW-Superior on Tuesday September 28 at Hutton Arena. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
