V-Hawks Too Much For Pipers

SAINT PAUL, MINN.—The Hamline University men's soccer team hosted NAIA Viterbo University at Pat Paterson Field on Tuesday. With the score tied 1-1 at halftime, the V-Hawks tallied three unanswered goals in the second half to secure a 4-1 victory over the Pipers.

Hamline falls to 2-6-1 while Viterbo stays unbeaten at 7-0-1.

Two-of-four V-Hawks goals were of the "own goal" variety. The first one occurred in the 17th minute, which gave Viterbo a 1-0 lead. Robert Cooper knotted the game at 1-1 in the 24th minute, thanks to a perfect feed from Logan Weller.

The V-Hawks outshot Hamline 11-1 in the second half and notched three unanswered goals courtesy of Aidan Radford in the 68th minute, and Abdul Ankaoglu in the 82nd minute. Their first goal of the half was an "own goal" in the 55th minute.

Viterbo outshot Hamline 21-5 in the match. Weller registered a pair of shots for the Pipers. Luke Rimington made three saves over 82:00 of work in net for Hamline, while Ethan Schauer came in for the final 8:00 and made one save. Ernesto Ascenzo registered three saves in the complete-game goalkeeping win for Viterbo.

Hamline will host Macalester on Saturday, October 2 at 12:30 p.m.
