MANKATO, MINN.—The Hamline University men's soccer team squared-off against Bethany Lutheran College in a Wednesday-night non-conference bout in Mankato, Minnesota. The Pipers picked up their first victory of 2021 with a 1-0 decision over the Vikings behind Robert Cooper's goal in the 64th minute.
The Pipers improve to 1-3 while Bethany Lutheran drops to 1-1.

Cooper's tally from the top-left corner in the 64th minute was among Hamline's seven shots in the contest compared to Bethany Lutheran's 15. Cooper and Logan Weller paced the Pipers with two shots a piece. Luke Rimington made six saves over 90:00 in net for Hamline, while Nick Lundberg stopped two shots in a complete-game effort for Bethany Lutheran.
A pair of red cards were assessed in the 82nd minute to Bethany Lutheran's Curzio Agostino, and Hamline's Nathan Kange.
The Pipers will return to action at Pat Paterson Field on Friday, September 10 against Minnesota Morris at 4:00 p.m.
