RESULTS
SAINT PAUL, MINN.—The Hamline University men's and women's swimming & diving teams hosted St. Olaf at Bush Center Pool on Saturday. The Oles registered first-place scores on the men's (183) and women's (212) side. The Pipers women registered 87 points, while the men tallied 46 points.
Courtney Broyles highlighted the Pipers women with first-place dives of 225.50 in the 1-meter, and 220.25 in the 3-meter. One of Broyles' 3-meter dives resulted in an NCAA Division III Zone Qualifying Score of 411.7, believed to be the first Piper in decades to achieve that milestone.
Sila Yurttas kept the first-place train rolling in the 200 yard IM, where she crossed the finish line at 2:21.21. Second-place marks occurred for Hamline thanks to the 200 yard medley relay team of Bennett Nigro, Sarah Wood, Yurttas, and Tina Liu , who achieved a 2:01.60. Morgan Scheader tallied second place in the 200 yard freestyle with a 2:17.24. Sarah Wood stood second on the 100 yard breaststroke podium with a 1:12.74.
George Hubbard dominated on the men's side as he took gold in the 50 yard freestyle with a 22.50, and kept that momentum going in the 100 yard freestyle with a 48.92. Quinn Doan continued the gold medal trend in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:02.47, followed by a second-place tally of 54.71 in the 100 yard butterfly.
The Pipers will return to action on Saturday, January 22. The men will compete at Macalester at 1 p.m., while the women will host Augsburg at 11 a.m.
