SAINT PAUL, MINN.—The Hamline University men's basketball team hosted neighboring school Bethel University on Wednesday night. The Pipers were in pursuit of winning back-to-back games for the first time this season, but came up short in a 75-63 loss to the Royals.
The Pipers fall to 6-9, 4-6 MIAC, while Bethel improves to 8-6, 5-5 MIAC.
Bethel 75, Hamline 63
Conner Krenos scored 13 of his team-leading 19 points in the second half. He gave Hamline their final two leads; which consisted of a jumper with 10:42 left in the second that made the score 44-43, and a free throw with 8:35 on the clock that made things 49-48 in favor of the Pipers.
Bethel outscored Hamline 27-14 from that point forward to secure a 75-63 victory.
Cooper Berg rounded out the Pipers double-figure scorers with 14 points. Jaren Tschetter led all players with 22 points for Bethel, who shot .436 (24-of-55) against Hamline's .400 (20-of-50) mark.
The Pipers will travel to first-place Augsburg on Saturday, January 22 for a 3 p.m. game time.
