WINONA, MINN.—The Hamline University men's basketball team made the trip to Winona, Minnesota on Wednesday to face Saint Mary's University. The Pipers got a game-high 25 points from mid-year transfer Mick Wherley in a 69-58 loss to the Cardinals.
The Pipers fall to 6-11, 4-8 MIAC, while the Cardinals improve to 6-10, 4-8 MIAC.
Saint Mary's 69, Hamline 58
Hamline held a four-point, 17-13 lead with 10:43 left in the first half before Saint Mary's responded with a 20-4 run en route to a 33-21 halftime advantage they wouldn't surrender in a 69-58 victory.
Wherley finished the game 9-of-12 from the field, while Jake Veldman contributed 12 points and two steals for the Pipers. Conner Krenos tallied a game-high five assists.
Jabari Sawyer tallied a team-high 18 points for the Cardinals.
The Pipers will host St. Olaf on Alumni Day on Saturday, January 29 at 3 p.m.
