SAINT PAUL, MINN.—The Hamline University men's soccer team made the short trek down Snelling Ave. to face Macalester on Saturday afternoon. The Scots prevailed with a 3-0 shutout of the Pipers.
Hamline falls to 2-8, 0-4 MIAC, while Macalester improves to 4-3-3, 3-1-1 MIAC.
Macalester 3, Hamline 0
The Pipers were able to muster seven shots in the contest, led by two apiece from Robert Cooper, Jared Garcia and Logan Weller. It was the Scots who capitalized on three goals courtesy of Branko Sciortino in the 15th minute, followed by a pair of goals from Hans Haenicke in the 56th and 76th minutes en route to a 3-0 victory. Haenicke assisted on Sciortino's goal en route to a five-point outing.
Macalester out shot Hamline 13-7. Pipers goalkeeper Ethan Schauer notched eight saves in the losing effort, while his counterpart Sam Price came through with two saves for Macalester.
The Pipers will host Northwestern (Minn.) at Pat Paterson Field on Monday, October 3 at 4 p.m.
