SAINT PAUL, MINN.—The Hamline University men's soccer team hosted Northwestern (Minn.) in a rare Monday-afternoon non-conference bout at Pat Paterson Field. A six-game losing skid came to a screeching halt for the Pipers, who cruised to a 2-0 victory over the Eagles.
Hamline improves to 3-8, while Northwestern (Minn.) falls to 4-6 and sees their win streak halted at four.

The Pipers converted their first shot of the game courtesy of Robert Cooper in the fifth minute. The ball trickled off an Eagles defender and found Cooper's foot 20 yards away to the left of the net, where he fired a shot that beat goalkeeper Bodean Gaustad to make the score 1-0.
Logan Weller's team-leading sixth goal of the season occurred in the 82nd minute, when he intercepted an Eagles pass 15 yards out before he drove the net and scored to widen the margin to 2-0.
Hamline out shot Northwestern (Minn.) 17-15, and were victim to all three yellow cards assessed in the contest. Cooper fired a game-high five shots.
Ethan Schauer made three saves in the complete-game goalkeeping victory for the Pipers, while his counterpart Bodean Gaustad made nine saves.
Hamline will host St. Scholastica at Pat Paterson Field on Saturday, October 8 at 3:30 p.m.
