Pipers Notch Many Season-Highs in 3-1 Victory Over Saints

SAINT PAUL, MINN.—The Hamline University women's volleyball team welcomed second-year MIAC member St. Scholastica to Hutton Arena for a Friday-night battle. The Pipers forced a fourth set for the third-consecutive match, but found the win column this time around in a 3-1 (25-14, 23-25, 25-18, 25-22) decision over the Saints.

Hamline's first MIAC win of 2022 gives them a 4-18, 1-5 MIAC record, while St. Scholastica falls to 10-9, 3-4 MIAC.

Outside of 3-2 and 4-3 Saints leads in the third set, the Pipers never trailed in the frames they won (1, 3, 4). Hamline was on the verge of a 2-0 match lead, as the second frame resulted in a 22-17 edge. Errors played a role in St. Scholastica's 8-1 run to close the set, as Hamline committed five down the stretch en route to their lone loss of the match at 25-23.

The Pipers notched a MIAC season-best .257 hitting percentage, along with an overall season-high 93 digs, 49 assists, 171 total attacks, 61 kills, and 73 points. Lauren Wilborn came through with a season-best 14 kills, while Riley Melby followed with a season-high 12. Kaitlyn Kotek set them up with a season-high 30 assists. Jenna Rubbelke paced the defense with a season-high 43 digs along with three aces. Julianna Boyum added 11 kills and a team-leading three blocks.

Lindsey Baribeau led St. Scholastica with 12 kills, while Katie Brostrom notched a game-high 40 assists. Alicia Draper paced the Saints defense with 24 digs.

The Pipers will travel to Gustavus Adolphus tomorrow, Saturday, October 15 for a 4 p.m. match
