NEW ULM, MINN.—The Hamline University men's basketball team embarked on a Tuesday-night non-conference bout at Martin Luther. The Pipers never trailed in an 80-57 ousting of the Knights.
Hamline improves to 2-1, while Martin Luther falls to 0-4.

The first half saw the Pipers shoot the lights out, as they eclipsed a .667 (18-of-27) mark en route to a 47-32 edge through 20:00 of play. Daniel McCarrell played a large role in that as 18 of his game-high 21 points occurred in the first half, which included a 7-for-8 clip from the floor.
Martin Luther found their footing in the second half, where they held Hamline to an 8-of-29 (.276) mark from the floor. The Knights offense couldn't build off that momentum as they went 8-for-26 over the final 20:00, which sealed their fate in an 80-57 loss to the Pipers.
McCarrell's game-high 21 points included an 8-for-11 mark from the floor. The Bradley Cimperman-Austin Holt duo registered their second-straight double double performance. Cimperman notched 18 points and 10 boards, while Holt added 15 points and 10 rebounds.
The Pipers finished 26-of-56 (.464) from the field.
Micah Kieselhorst paced Martin Luther with 20 points.
Hamline will open MIAC play against St. Scholastica at Hutton Arena on Tuesday, November 22 at 7 p.m.
