NORTHFIELD, MINN.—The Hamline University men's hockey team traveled to St. Olaf for the front-end of their two-game series on Friday night. The Pipers blocked a season-high 22 shots, but dropped a 3-1 decision to the Oles.
Hamline falls to 3-3, 1-2 MIAC, while St. Olaf improves to 4-1-1, 2-1 MIAC.

The Oles controlled the opening two periods, where they held a 28-9 advantage in shots. It resulted in a 3-0 lead courtesy of goals from Ethan Hersant at 16:11 of the first period, Sean Walsh at 7:26 of the second, and Tyler Cooper at 15:22.
The script flipped in favor of Hamline, who controlled the tempo with a 9-8 edge in shots over the final 20:00. Pipers leading scorer Sam Dabrowski narrowed the score to 3-1 off a feed from Bailey Sommers :26 into the frame.
Tyler Cooper notched a goal and an assist for St. Olaf, while teammate Troy Bowditch tallied three assists.
Each team committed four penalties in the contest.
Kevin Lake stopped 33 shots in the goaltending decision for Hamline, while Thomas Lalonde's 17 saves helped seal the victory for St. Olaf.
The Pipers will host St. Olaf at Tria Rink tomorrow, Saturday, November 19 at 7 p.m.
