Pipers Can't Hang Onto 3-0 Lead in 4-4 Tie at Gusties

ST. PETER, MINN.—The Hamline University men's hockey team traveled to Gustavus Adolphus College for a Friday-night bout, where they couldn't hang on to a 3-0 lead as both teams skated to a 4-4 tie (OT). The Pipers won the shootout 1-0, as Sam Dabrowski scored the lone goal in the session.

Hamline 4, Gustavus Adolphus 4 (OT)

The Pipers cruised to a 3-0 lead at 6:11 of the second period behind a pair of goals from Joe Collins, and one from Sam Dabrowski. The Gusties received goals from four different players, which included two power-play tallies from Patrick Gazich at 8:04 of the second that got them on the scoreboard to make things 3-1, and Nick Klisho at 16:09 of the second that cut their deficit to 4-2. This occurred after Jackson Wille scored Hamline's final goal at 9:35 of the second period.

The Gusties outshot Hamline 12-5 in the third period, which led to goals from Brandon McNamara at 2:23, and Micah Gernander at 8:27 that made things 4-4.

Carson Simon and Brendan Sheehan each notched a pair of assists in the contest for the Pipers, who were narrowly outshot 29-25.

Kevin Lake made 25 saves in net for Hamline, while Jackson Hjelle stopped 21 shots in goal for the Gusties.

The Pipers will host Gustavus Adolphus at TRIA Rink tomorrow, Saturday, February 12 at 7 p.m.
