Women's Tennis Picks Up First Win of Season

ORLANDO, FLA.—The Hamline University women's tennis team ended their three-match stay in Orlando with a Wednesday-morning bout against Saint Francis (Ind.). The Pipers picked up their first victory of the season with a 6-2 decision over Saint Francis (Ind.).

Hamline improves to 1-9, while Saint Francis falls to 1-15.

The Pipers ended doubles with a 2-1 lead courtesy of Taylor Vyskocil/Lily Vang 8-3 in the No. 1 position, and Taylor Hopkins/Sydney Hubbard 8-2 at the No. 2 spot.

Hamline came through victorious in all four singles matches played, as Saint Francis's lone wins came via default at No. 5 singles, and No. 3 doubles. Sydney Hubbard continued her dominating ways this week in No. 4 singles with a 6-3, 6-1 win.

Taylor Vyskocil picked up a 6-3, 6-2 win in the No. 1 spot, while Lily Vang prevailed in the No. 2 position with a 6-1, 6-4 victory. Taylor Hopkins was effective in No. 3 singles with a 6-2, 6-0 win.

The Pipers will return to action on Sunday, March 27 against Concordia (Minn.) and Minnesota-Morris in Fargo, North Dakota.
