TUCSON, ARIZONA—The Hamline University men's track & field team opened their outdoor season at the University of Arizona Willie Williams Classic in Tucson, Arizona on Friday and Saturday.
Joshua Thomsen was impressive for the Pipers, as he notched a 12th-place time of 56.37 in the 400 meter hurdles, and 28th place in the 400 meter dash with a 50.40. The 110 meter hurdles saw Zach Angstman notch a 19th-place time of 16.44. Reece Thomas was dynamite in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.56, good enough for 42nd place.
Aric Brodie commanded the distance group in the 5000 meter run, where he crossed the finish line at 16:35.43 en route to 25th place. The 1500 meter run saw Michael Kurtz claim 41st place with a 4:22.12.
Christian Velishek highlighted the jumps as he claimed 24th place in the long jump with a leap of 6.37m, while the triple jump saw Michael Braun tally a 13th-place mark of 13.01m.
The hammer resulted in a 10th-place toss of 47.80m for Lucas Doyle, who kept that momentum going with a 16th-place mark of 39.58m in the discus. The javelin was all Sam Dabrowski, who claimed 14th place with a 46.84m.
The Pipers will return home on Saturday, April 2, when they will host the Hamline Invite at Klas Field.
