Pipes Pick Up Wins Against Cougars and Cobbers

SAINT PAUL, MINN.—The Hamline University men's tennis team embarked on a rare doubleheader against Minnesota Morris, and Concordia (Minn.) in Fargo, North Dakota on Sunday. The Pipers came through with a pair of wins on the day to improve to 4-6, 1-1 MIAC on the season.

Hamline 9, Minnesota Morris 0

The Pipers prevailed with a sweep in doubles behind victories from Elijah Krause/Isaac Hultberg 8-5 in the No. 1 position, and Nazeer Robinson/Sean Le 8-6 at No. 2. The No. 3 slot resulted in a default victory for Hamline.

The singles flight saw Nazeer Robinson come through with a 6-3, 6-1 victory at No. 1. Hultberg (No. 2), Krause (No. 3), and Tate Johanning (No. 5) each tallied 6-0, 6-0 victories. The No. 4 position resulted in a 6-1, 6-0 win for Sean Le, while No. 6 was a default victory for the Pipers.

Hamline 7, Concordia 2

The doubles flight saw a clean sweep for the Pipers courtesy of Robinson/Sam Thompson 8-6 in No. 1, Hultberg/Krause 8-1 in No. 2, and Le/Surprise Taylor 8-3 in No. 3.

The middle four singles matches resulted in victories for Hamline. Le notched a 6-2, 6-1 victory in No. 5 singles, followed by Krause's 6-0, 6-1 decision at the No. 4 spot. Hultberg notched a nail-bitting 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 win at the No. 3 position, while Thompson prevailed 6-2, 6-2 in No. 2 singles.

The Pipers will return to action on Friday, April 1 at UW-La Crosse for a 2 p.m. match.
